Working in a kitchen is very much like driving a submarine. You can’t see what is happening outside in the ocean, you have to rely on someone telling you if you are on course. Along comes one of the best pieces of news in any restaurateurs world, a write up in one of the food bibles. Four years in a row we have been humbled by inclusion in the Good Food Guide and this year is certainly no different.
“Top-class service, outstanding value and shrewd sourcing mark out this old-town bistro as a genuine neighbourhood asset”. It is very difficult to see praise like this as the writer would have eaten in secret, we have no face to say thank you to directly, but “Thank You” if you are reading this. One person we can thank is Rich Guttridge from the Burton Mail for his kind comments in their article Town’s ‘best-kept secret’ makes food bible again
One thing we know we can’t do is rest on our laurels. So thank you to our great guests and to our team. Time to get to the stove.
